SANS was founded in 2001 by a group of concerned citizen bound by the shared tragedy of a loved one lost to suicide. Our mission is simple, prevent suicide. We believe education is the key to prevention so we are currently focusing our efforts on advocacy and funding for school based suicide and mental health education programs.

The SANS board is made up of volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds; mental health professionals, educators, coaches and business professionals. Our shared vision is that suicide is fundamentally stoppable. We primarily operate at a grass roots level, working with schools, churches and local organization to raise awareness of the suicide problem and the solutions available to them. Our Suicide Prevention Efforts

SANS has provided funding for the SOS program to the following schools:

  • Bellingham High School
  • Lunenburg High School
  • Pittsfield Public Schools (High School)
  • Bristol County Agricultural High School
  • Bedford High School
  • Lowell Vocational Technical High School
  • Pentucket Regional School District (High School) West Newbury

SANS has also

  • P rovided funding for the New Hampshire Youth Suicide Prevention Assembly Conference 2007 and the upcoming 2008 Conference
  • Donated books to the Littleton Public Library on the issue of suicide for both adults and youth and for survivors
  • Sponsored two folk concerts in Littleton where prevention information was provided and a brief awareness talk was given
  • Provided information and speakers for parent forums and high school seniors
  • Provided speaker for Littleton Churches
  • Participated in the Littleton Community Health Fair and the Littleton Holiday Bazaar

The Littleton Survivor Group is separate of SANS but is facilitated by the SANS Board Chair
